A relaxing Kyoto townhouse where you can spend a relaxing time.Lineup of seasonal Japanese food and sake appetizers
Niwaka, a Japanese restaurant that was popular in Oshikoji Fuyacho, will move to Fuyacho Matsubara in March 2022.The owner, Mr. Naito, fell in love with the Kyomachiya at first sight, which was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. The interior of the restaurant, which has been renovated so that you can take off your shoes before taking a seat, is a small space with seven seats at the counter and tables. You can feel the presence of Mr. Naito in the kitchen as he prepares the food, making you feel as relaxed as if you had been invited to his friend's house.
What you can enjoy in this environment is food and sake made with seasonal ingredients such as seafood and vegetables. There is a wide variety of dishes that go well with alcohol, including simmered dishes and bowl dishes made with dashi made from kelp and dried bonito flakes, sake side dishes such as ohitashi and vinegared dishes, and fried dishes such as horse mackerel and pork cutlets.
There are two types of omakase courses: a light course of 7500 yen that focuses on grilled foods, and a 10500 yen course that includes rice. You can also order additional menu items from the a la carte menu depending on how hungry you are.The photo is an example of the summer menu, which starts at 2 yen for the omakase course. The fragrant conger conger fried in oil, the sesame sauce that gives you the texture and aroma of sesame, and the bowl of conger conger made with Ichiban dashi are all items that give you a taste of Kyoto's summer.
The menus written on the blackboard are all attractive, including dishes made with flavorful dashi and izakaya-style menus. We have about 15 to 20 brands of sake that go well with these dishes, with a variety of flavors, aromas, and manufacturing methods to meet the tastes and wishes of our customers.
[Hakuin Masamune] (Shizuoka, Takashima Sake Brewery), [Mukyu Tenon] (Shimane, Itakura Sake Brewery), [Hirotogawa] (Fukushima, Matsuzaki Sake Brewery), [Nichibi] (Kyoto, Hibi Jozo), etc. "We have a selection of representative brands. We choose drinks that are delicious on their own and go well with the food," says Naito. The style is to tell them what you like and have them suggest a recommended brand, so I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of alcohol they'll come across.Sake starts at 8 yen for 1000 bottles.
The food and drinks you enjoy in a relaxing space have a special taste. The cheerful hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Naito makes you feel comfortable and it's a place you'll want to visit again and again.
