Although it is located in the mountains, it takes about 40 minutes by train and car from Kyoto Station, which is just the right distance to stretch your legs.

The origin of the place name ``Mizuo'' is that it was called ``Mizuno-o'' because it was located upstream of a river. It is also known as the place associated with the 56th Emperor Seiwa, who was also called ``Emperor Mizuo'' in later generations.
