Tanaka Sake Brewery
The Ohara district of Mimasaka City, Okayama Prefecture is nestled in the heart of the mountains. In this area, there is Ohara-juku, which prospered as a post station along the Inaba Highway connecting Inaba and Harima, and the Honjin and Waki-honjin still remain.
The Tanaka Sake Brewery has been brewing sake for about 130 years, in a corner of the road that still retains the appearance of the Edo period, where Sankin-Kotai samurai came and went.
In this region of the Chugoku Mountains, blessed with a cold climate and abundant underground water, sake is made from rice steamed in traditional Japanese pots and slowly squeezed in a tank for many years. It has been loved by the people who live there.
In addition to ``Ohara Hakubai,'' which has been a representative brand since our founding, and ``Musashi no Sato,'' which is named after the swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, who is said to have been born near the brewery, from 2012 we have also introduced Sokujomoto and Yamahaimoto. ``Chuko'', which is made from two types of motoji and has a fun seasonal flavor, is also available.A variety of ambitious sake brewing continues, including this sake, which has been passed down in the Chugoku region for a long time and has another name, ``kitsunebi.''
