Aichi Prefecture's Kintora Sake Brewery, brewing sake with history and innovation

Kintora Sake Brewery, one of the few sake breweries in the city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture's Kita Ward, is a long-established brewery that was founded over 170 years ago, despite being located in the center of an urban area. A long-established downtown store beloved by locals

The first Osakaya Zenbei was founded in 2 in Yamadamura, at the entrance to the Zengyoji Kaido road (now Kita-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture). The name of the store and the flagship brand, Kintora, comes from the famous golden shachi (golden carp) of Nagoya Castle and the fact that Zenbei III was born in the Chinese zodiac year of the tiger. Kintora Sake Brewery is located in the center of Nagoya and is one of the few sake breweries in the city.
Loved by the local people, they face their sake brewing every day with the hopes of the locals on their shoulders. In a strange twist of fate, the brewery was burned down at the same time as Nagoya Castle during the Great Air Raid of 20, so they have been brewing "Daiginjo Nagoya Castle Honmaru Goten" sake for over 30 years in the hope of seeing the castle restored.

"Bringing Nagoya to life" by incorporating local culture and connections

The motto of the brewery is "brewing Nagoya." The former Yamada Village, once an area of rice fields in the Edo Period, was blessed with rice and water suitable for sake brewing. Today, the area is part of Nagoya city, and the locals and sake lovers are closer than ever. The sake produced by interweaving Nagoya's history, climate, and human connections is truly the "taste of Nagoya."

The traditional "Golden Tiger" and the evolved "Tiger Change"

Kintora Sake Brewery has been making sake based on the Echigo style for generations. Currently, the brewery is led by the talented master brewer Shinichi Kimura, who has won numerous awards since he was in his 20s as the youngest master brewer in Aichi Prefecture.
Echigo-style sake is light and easy to drink, and because it is simple and clear, there is no room for cheating, so it requires high skill and careful work. The traditional "Kintora" sake is the result of the techniques for brewing sake that is both easy to drink and has a wide range of flavors, which have been nurtured in the climate of Nagoya.
In addition, "Kohen", which started in 24, is a project born out of love for the local area, to create a new Nagoya sake brand. As the name "Kohen" suggests, it is a sake of change and innovation, and research is continuing to ensure that it will continue to evolve with each passing year.

We want to convey both deliciousness and fun.

Taking advantage of its location in the city, the brewery is also actively engaged in activities to communicate with locals and drinkers. Open brewery events and food pairing events are held regularly. There are also collaborative events with breweries in the same area, and the brewery continues to spread not only the deliciousness of sake but also the fun of it in Nagoya.
