Event・News
"Sake World Sake Brewery Investment" was born from the desire to solve the challenges facing the sake industry. In this column, we will introduce the system and background of the creation of Sake World Sake Brewery Investment in a serialized format. In this second installment, we will take a look at the current state of the industry as explained in the previous article, and explain the specific features and philosophy behind how Sake World Sake Brewery Investment supports sake breweries.
This series of columns began with the aim of "explaining Sake World Sake Brewery Investment in a more understandable way." In this second installment, we will explain the mechanics of Sake World Sake Brewery Investment, which many people have said is "complicated..." We will also explain the benefits participants can gain and how the money raised will be used.
INDEX
Sake World Sake Brewery Investment is a system that allows you to support sake breweries through trademark rights.
A trademark right is the right to use a registered brand name. Sake World Sake Brewery Investment allows you to use the trademark that Sake World Makino Brewery uses when making sake."Sake World"This refers to the trademark rights.

Sake World Brewery Investment will divide the trademark "Sake World" into units and sell them at 5,500 yen each. The proceeds will be used to promote custom-made sake and increase shipments of sake produced by Sake World Makino Brewery.

Stocks are a common way to raise funds, but issuing stocks requires that outside opinions be reflected in the company's decision-making. It's easy to imagine this when you think of shareholders speaking at a general shareholders' meeting.
While incorporating an outside perspective may lead to greater efficiency and reform, many breweries are reluctant to issue shares due to fears that it could undermine the sake brewing policies they have maintained for so long. This is why a system was created that utilizes trademark rights, which do not affect management rights.
Although the purchaser of a trademark right cannot influence decision-making like a shareholder can, they can support the brewery as it takes on new challenges and enjoy the various benefits that come with utilizing the trademark right.
By participating in Sake World sake brewery investment and purchasing trademark rights,"Royalty income for over 50 years based on the volume of shipments from Sake World Makino Brewery," "Priority purchasing rights for sake," and "Right to use trademark brand logo."You will be able to do three things:

First"Royalty income for over 50 years based on the volume of shipments from Sake World Makinokura"Royalties are the fees paid by anyone who uses a brand name.
Leaf Publications, Inc., the distributor of Sake World Sake Brewery Investment, and Sake World Makinokura, the sake manufacturer, have signed an exclusive usage agreement, which allows Sake World Makinokura to use the trademark "Sake World" owned by Leaf, in exchange for paying royalties based on the amount shipped (0.3 yen per ml).
Royalties will be distributed according to the purchaser's ownership interest in the trademark.
Those who participate in Sake World Sake Brewery Investment and purchase trademark rights will become trademark equity holders. A trademark equity refers to the portion of a trademark that is jointly owned by multiple people. (For example, if 10 shares are purchased by the end of the trademark rights sale, the trademark equity ratio of the person who purchased 1 share will be 1/10.)
As the shipping volume of Sake World Makinokura increases, this will be reflected in your royalties, so you can share in the growth of Sake World Makinokura. By the way, you can purchase multiple trademark rights, and the more shares (trademark rights shares) you own, the more royalties you will receive.

What sake lovers are interested in"Priority purchase rights for sake"By participating in the Sake World Sake Brewery Investment, you can get your hands on a variety of sake produced at Sake World's Makino Brewery before it is released to the general public.
Finally"Right to use trademark brand logo"Trademark owners who participate in the Sake World brewery investment can hold food and beverage events using the Sake World brand logo, operate restaurants, and work with Leaf to promote Sake World (application to Leaf Publications Co., Ltd. is required in advance to use the brand logo). However, they cannot use the brand logo to sell alcoholic beverages, as a liquor store name, or as an online retailer.
It also has the added benefit of helping you save on taxes.
Details on who is eligible will be explained in the fourth column, so please check it out.
Finally, I would like to explain how the funds raised through the Sake World sake brewery investment will be used. They are planned to be used for three main purposes.

The first is the expansion of facilities at Sake World Makino Brewery.
Makinokura Sake World has just started operations, so capital investment is not yet sufficient. We would like to use the funds to purchase new equipment and hire more staff, and increase our capacity to produce custom-made sake.
The second is the expansion of the sake blending experience facility "My Sake World."
The funds will be used to host traveling events offering custom-made sake experiences and to open new stores both in Japan and overseas. You may be wondering, "Will My Sake World's business expansion lead to supporting sake breweries?" But please note that My Sake World is one of Sake World Makinokura's main shipping destinations. As My Sake World grows, Sake World Makinokura's shipping volume will also increase. Furthermore, since Sake World Makinokura is a brewery that blends sake purchased from breweries all over Japan to create new sake, we believe that Sake World's business expansion will lead to the development of the entire sake industry.
The third is the promotion of Sake World and My Sake World.
We would like to spread the word about Sake World's sake both domestically and internationally through events and PR activities. In the past, we held the Sake World Summit at Miyako Messe (Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City), which received a great response. From now on, we will hold events that will boost the sake industry not only in Kyoto but all over Japan, with the aim of growing Sake World Makinogura and related sake breweries.
In this column, we explained the Sake World sake brewery investment system, the benefits of participating, and how the funds raised will be used. Royalties will be paid once a year for over 50 years.
In the third column, we will explain how to receive royalties!
